INTERNATIONAL WOMAN'S DAY
The women highlighted in this podcast epitomize what it means to blaze a trail for others to look up to, become inspired by and to have something to work towards. This episode not only tells the stories of some of our highly valued women but also delves into the journey that got them to where they are today. In a traditionally male dominated industry, we are celebrating and expressing our gratitude to all the women who help make Mucci Farms and the produce industry what it is today.
Women in produce, at the forefront of the industry, have shown what it means to be strong, resilient and inspiring.
Sharron began her career at Mucci Farms nearly 19 years ago with a small team. Year after year she forged her path in the industry and today, she manages a sizeable team that handles the finances of the company. Mary Catherine, who’s called MC around the office, has worked with the company for almost as long as Sharron, starting out in the first 20-acre high tech glass facility the company had. Despite being a bookkeeper, she learned that it was important to learn about all aspects of Mucci Farms’ vertically integrated organization. This strategy would prove to be beneficial years later as she transitioned to her current role as Offshore Supervisor. She now works with a team of dynamic individuals responsible for bringing in a diverse workforce from Latin America and the Caribbean.
Samantha’s journey was a little bit different. She joined Mucci Farms as a produce packer while attending night classes to improve her skillset. When a new opportunity arose internally, she sought out the chance to advance and successfully worked her way up to the accounting department. Having worked at the ground level, her understanding of how all the pieces fit the industry has been instrumental in her growth.
Their success stories only scratch the surface of the value Mucci Farms places on women in all positions. These women, and many more, along with all their achievements have undoubtedly shattered the glass ceilings across the industry, and today, we celebrate them.
